Biography
Karen L. Witherell is a lecturer for the Boston University School of Law Graduate Tax Program and teaches Estate Planning. She is a shareholder at the law firm of Bove Langa Witherell & Soiffer, P.C. in Boston, Massachusetts. Her practice areas include wealth preservation, incapacity and estate planning both domestic and international, gift transaction planning, preparation of gift and estate tax returns, business succession planning, prenuptial agreements, trust administration and probate administration.
Ms. Witherell is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and holds the designation of Accredited Estate Planner from the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. Additionally, she writes and lectures both nationally and locally including serving as a frequent lecturer and contributing author for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education. She serves on the Steering Committee the Boston Probate and Estate Planning Forum and is involved in the Boston Estate Planning Council, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Ms. Witherell holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law Graduate Tax Program and was the recipient of the Ernest M. Haddad Award for best example of overall ability based on academic achievement, character, and potential to serve the public interest for her graduating class.
When not doing law related things, Ms. Witherell can be found walking and birdwatching with her two dogs and other human family members.
