Farhad Alavi
Biography
Farhad Alavi is Managing Partner of Akrivis Law Group, PLLC, a Washington based boutique firm with offices in New York and Miami. His work focuses primarily on compliance and enforcement of U.S. trade laws, with an emphasis on sanctions, export controls, anti-money laundering, and customs matters. He represents clients in the U.S. and abroad, ranging from public companies to high net-worth individuals. Previously, Mr. Alavi was an attorney at Baker & McKenzie and Holland & Knight LLP. While at Holland & Knight he helped set up the firm’s office in Abu Dhabi. He has also taught at Georgetown University Law Center, and appears regularly in international media discussing sanctions, trade and political issues, having been interviewed on BBC World, TRT, and others, and quoted in publications such as The New York Times, Financial Times, Washington Post, and Der Spiegel. Mr. Alavi received his LL.M. in Banking & Financial Law from Boston University, his J.D. from George Mason University, and his B.A. from Tufts University.
