Research

The law library offers research assistance to law faculty, law students and the BU community.  Legal Information Librarians with extensive experience in legal research are available to offer assistance at the reference desk, through live chat, and the Ask Us button.

The law library views the legal research education of our law students as one of its primary missions. Our librarians offer introductory legal research classes in the context of the first-year Lawyering Program, and in the LLM Research and Writing program. They also offer advanced and topical legal research classes for credit.

Additionally, the law library offers a Certificate in Legal Research Skills for Practice where law students can advance and refresh their legal research skills in a formalized setting outside the classroom. Finally, our librarians participate in doctrinal and clinical classes with research presentations designed specifically for the course. In addition to scheduled training, one-on-one training is available.

The training and orientation schedule can be found on the Research Training Calendar.
