Access one of the best law libraries in the country.
The Samuel M. Fineman and Pappas Law Libraries rank among the nation’s top libraries with rich collections, spectacular new state-of-the-art facilities, and one of the most extensive legal research training programs in the country.
Extensive library resources.
The law libraries hold over one million volumes in digital and print formats plus extensive legal and law-related databases, indexes, and e-journals. These resources include state and federal case law, statutes, legislative history, regulations and administrative law materials, all significant periodicals, and a major collection of legal treatises.
The libraries have an excellent international law collection, with an emphasis on the European Union, United Nations, international trade, and human rights. To support the School’s broad curricula and six law journals, the libraries have substantial collections in intellectual property law, health law, banking and financial law, and tax law.
As a BU Law student, you can also use the Boston University Libraries, the BU Medical School Library, and the BU School of Theology Library. You also have access to the many other libraries that are part of the Boston Library Consortium and the New England Law Library Consortium.
The Fineman and Pappas Law Libraries are housed in our new architecturally acclaimed BU Law Complex, including the Redstone Building, newly renovated Law Tower, and the Pappas facility. Here you’ll find beautiful, expansive study space including two state-of-the-art research teaching classrooms, 21 group study rooms, collaborative work areas for students, and three reading rooms including a 49-seat quiet study room.
Professional staff, exceptional training programs.
Our legal information librarians are highly trained professionals and lawyers who will help you make the most of our vast research resources. They also offer an exceptional research training program, starting with the First Year Writing Program and continuing with eight advanced upper-class legal research courses.
