Boston University Law Review is #16 in the 2025 Law Journal Meta-Rankings
BU Law is thrilled to share that the Boston University Law Review has been named among the top flagship law reviews at US law schools by the 2025 Law Journal Meta-Rankings.
The Meta-Rankings are determined by averaging standings from the U.S. News & World Report Peer Reputation score ranking averaged over ten years (prRank), the overall U.S. News & World Report school ranking averaged over ten years (usnRank), the Washington & Lee Law Journal Ranking (wluRank), and the Google Scholar Metrics ranking (gRank).
With this methodology, the Boston University Law Review scored a prRank of 22, a usnRank of 21, a wluRank of 15, and gRank of 7. BU Law Review is now ranked #16 out of the 191 ABA accredited law school flagship journals analyzed. This is an increase from the previous #17 ranking in 2024, #20 ranking in 2023 and 2022, and #21 in 2021, demonstrating a continued year-over-year improvement and organizational growth for the academic journal.
This recognition is a reflection of Boston University Law Review’s strong reputation and success across a number of metrics. “We are gratified by this number 16 Meta Ranking of our flagship law review,” shares James E. Fleming, the Honorable Paul J. Liacos Professor of Law and faculty advisor to the law review. “It is a terrific testament to the fact that the editors of Boston University Law Review not only work hard but also work smart in publishing first-rank scholarship. Because this standing is a composite of four well-known rankings, it attests that, by any measure, our editors are doing high-caliber work of which BU Law as an institution can be tremendously proud.”
