All SEVIS Records Restored to Active

in Immigration Actions Trump 2.0
April 27th, 2025

Over the past few weeks, the ISSO team has been supporting international students and recent graduates with terminated SEVIS records and have connected impacted individuals with:

  • designated BU school contacts for academic assistance,
  • campus resources for wellness support,
  • immigration attorneys for legal consultations, and/or
  • information regarding low bono or pro bono mass action litigation options.

We notified our community of this unprecedented federal government action. We have hosted several information sessions to provide information, to reassure students and to offer relevant “know your rights” information.  Only a small number of our students and recent graduates have been impacted by the federal government’s recent actions. We are continuing to support inquiries and to provide on-demand SEVIS status checks since our students and recent graduates do not have access to their SEVIS records.

SEVIS record terminations ceased on April 10th, and ALL impacted SEVIS records for BU students and recent graduates have now been restored back to active status.

We have not received any information from the Department of Homeland Security, ICE, or any other federal government representatives about recent efforts affecting individual SEVIS records. However, recent news reports indicate that ICE will be publishing future SEVIS record termination policy guidance.

The ISSO continues to closely monitor SEVIS and to provide guidance to impacted students and to provide guidance.  Please continue to contact your ISSO advisor with any questions regarding your SEVIS record.
