The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences offers application fee waivers to low-income and/or underrepresented minority students. Applicants to the PhD program can find information at https://www.bu.edu/cas/admissions/phd-mfa/apply/fee-waiver/. International applicants (and domestic applicants who do not meet the criteria specified above) should contact jribner@bu.edu, using the subject line “fee waiver request.” The email must include, as attachments, a personal statement, a copy of transcript(s), and a research summary. Applicants to the MA program can contact grsmams@bu.edu to request a fee waiver. The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences also offers Graduate Student Relocation Assistance Grants and International Student Travel Grants to eligible PhD students.
Applicants to the MA program can apply following receipt of the bachelor’s degree. Applicants to the PhD program can apply following either the bachelor’s or the master’s degree.
Applicants to the MA program choose from one of three tracks: a general track, a track with specialized focus on the history of architecture, and a track with specialized focus on the history of Asian art and architecture. Applicants for the PhD degree choose one of two tracks: a general track, and a track with specialized focus on the history of architecture.
