Join our 2nd Annual Paul Streeten Distinguished Lectureship Featuring UC Berkeley Haas School of Business Dean Ann E. Harrison
Recently, Boston University released guidance regarding how to keep our community safe during the COVID-19 outbreak. The guidance limits both domestic and international travel and large events of 10 people or more on campus through April 13th; this event has been postponed in alignment with the University’s policy.
We are honored to announce our second annual Paul Streeten Distinguished Lectureship in Global Development Policy to be held on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 3:30-5PM in the Eichenbaum Colloquium Room at the Rajen Kilachand Center, 610 Commonwealth Avenue, featuring our distinguished guest Ann E. Harrison.
The Paul Streeten Distinguished Lectureship in Global Development Policy celebrates the example and legacy of Professor Paul Streeten as an eminent economist and interdisciplinary scholar who has had a significant impact on global development policy. The joint sponsorship of this lecture by Boston University’s Global Development Policy Center, the Institute for Economic Development, and the Department of Economics reflects the breadth of his engagement at Boston University during his years as Professor of Economics and Director of the World Development Institute.
This year’s distinguished lecture is being given by Ann E. Harrison, a renowned economist who has dedicated her career to furthering inclusive and sustainable policies in development economics, international trade, and global labor markets. She is currently a professor and Bank of America Dean of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Her lecture, Beyond the Market: The Role of Industrial Policy in Global Development, will address the long-standing debate over the role for the state versus the market in advancing economic development. She will draw upon history and economics to summarize the state of knowledge about what is the right balance between free markets and the effective role of the state in promoting innovation and growth.
We anticipate this to be a very well attended event.
You must register in advance to reserve a seat for this distinguished lecture on Monday, April 6, 2020. We will host a reception following the lecture.
