The Pilates Method was invented in the 1920s by Joseph H. Pilates, an athlete and physical trainer. This comprehensive approach to body conditioning uses a movement and exercise system that emphasizes core stability while developing flexibility and strength. Nearly a century later, this highly regarded approach to fitness and wellness continues to gain popularity. From training centers for professional athletes and dancers to physical therapy clinics, a diverse range of populations profit from the versatility and effectiveness of Pilates. Private, Duet, and Trio Training on Mat and/or Pilates Apparatus
Pilates Apparatus classes utilize specialized equipment to augment your Pilates practice. The equipment may be used to offer assistance in training areas that require strengthening or movement re-education. It may be also used to increase the level of difficulty when you are ready for a challenge. We offer small group (quartet) classes, trio, duet, and private training options. Sessions are 55 minutes in length.

“Pilates apparatus classes are beneficial for both my mental and physical health. The Zen-like focus they require has enabled me to in the here and now, shutting out the noise of the mind and environment. Through various exercises, some more challenging than others, my body has become stronger and more stable, and my posture has improved considerably. Highly recommend.” – Stacy G.
“Pilates classes take me out of my head and into my body. Doing Pilates helps me to feel stronger and to have better posture. The emphasis on breathing lowers my level of stress and the exercises have improved my flexibility.” – Silvia G.
I have been taking Pilates Apparatus at FitRec for five or six years. It’s truly been transformative in my everyday life, helping me to stand up straighter, be stronger, and generally exercise in a smarter way. I started knowing nothing of Pilates and have gradually come to realize how important a practice it is for the body, especially my aging one. It really helps to fine-tune one’s body and mind in a way that carries well beyond the Pilates studio. – Mary Ann H.
