Margaret Babson

Director of Student Leadership and Impact Center

  • Title Director of Student Leadership and Impact Center

Margaret serves as the Director of the Student Leadership and Impact Center (SLIC), established in August 2025 following the reorganization of the Community Service Center (CSC) and the Student Activities Office (SAO). In her role, she leads the SLIC team in continuing the work of both offices, with a focus on building community, fostering connection, and encouraging collaboration. The team advises and supports students with events, leadership development, and training to ensure that student organization life, community engagement, volunteerism, and activism remain vibrant at Boston University. Margaret also serves as a key liaison for departments and offices across campus, helping to cultivate partnerships on programs and initiatives aligned with SLIC’s mission.

Margaret found a real passion for student advising and program planning in her first job with the National College Advising Corps, and time spent volunteering for her sorority. She completed her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration at Boston College (don’t hold it against her!), before joining the Student Activities team in 2019 beginning as an Assistant Director of Programming. She continues to love working with students as they find their home at Boston University.

Growing up in Massachusetts, Margaret inherited a love of the New England Patriots, seafood, and Dunkin Donuts. She is a big bookworm and is always looking for new suggestions for books, but also can’t resist a  good Kdrama!
