What to do with the old Howard Thurman Center space?
The Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground is leaving the space on the garden level of the George Sherman Union to relocate to a new home at the heart of Boston University’s campus. We’re expanding and strengthening the Center’s programming so it can reach even more members of our community. It will continue to be a place for students to engage in close associations that develop their ideas while also helping them to navigate bonds that unite them, and to be a place where they can wrestle with their disagreements.
Give us your proposal for reimagining and reinventing the public, student-centered space at the GSU after the Thurman Center moves. The Dean of Students is now taking proposals for repurposing this space with its current layout (and with no renovations). Your proposal should respond to questions regarding the space’s content, layout and anticipated programming. Proposals will be evaluated by a program review committee. One proposal will be submitted for final consideration in relation to the University’s space planning and capital expenditures.

- Describe how your proposal could provide benefits to the students of Boston University.
- If you were trying to convince another student, faculty member, or administrator to come to this proposed space, how would you describe it in one sentence?
