Less energy. Less water. More eco-awareness.

Dining Services is committed to procuring the most environmentally responsible products available. We’ve also introduced procedures to reduce energy and water use through behavior change and resource-efficent equipment. To that end we:

  • Give highest priority to Energy-Star rated equipment
  • Perform energy and water efficiency audits and training
  • Use low-flow sinks and nozzles
  • Use compostable packaging—90% of single-use packages used on campus are compostable and no polystyrene is used
  • Use only GreenSeal-certified napkins of 100% recycled content in all dining halls, catering, the GSU Food Court, Granby St. Cafe, 575 CafĂ©, Healthy Brands, the BU Pub, and Buick St. Market
  • Pack Charlie-to-Go and Catering on the Charles lunches in boxes of 100% post-consumer content
  • Purchase only Green Seal-certified cleaning supplies and dish detergents
  • Use office paper of at least 50% recycled content
  • Have all dining services offices audited and certified by sustainability@bu’s Green Office Program
