BU BLSA, EdLaw, and Student Affairs are excited to bring you a two-part event looking at the 2019 Documentary, Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools. The documentary is inspired by the groundbreaking book of the same name by renowned scholar, Monique W. Morris, Ed.D. It takes a close look at the educational, judicial, and societal disparities facing Black girls and confronts the ways in which the misunderstanding of Black girlhood has led to excessive punitive discipline which in turn disrupts one of the most important factors in their lives, their education. Join us on Wednesday, February 23 from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM for a panel discussion on the documentary. Hear from experienced legal professionals across various sectors as they discuss their own experience with the school-to-prison pipeline and how you can get involved in dismantling it.
