Bio
Sophia holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Boston University Graduate Medical Sciences. As an undergraduate, she conducted research in the Movement Neuroscience Laboratory, studying the impact of contact sports on cortical neurophysiology and motor performance. She also gained hands-on clinical experience as a dialysis patient care technician and pediatric medical scribe. As a graduate student, she completed her capstone project with the CTE Center exploring age of first exposure to American football and later life clinical outcomes in brain donors.
Sophia joined the BU CTE Center as a full-time Research Specialist in 2023 and currently serves as the Research Program Manager for the Understanding Neurologic Injury and Traumatic Encephalopathy (UNITE) study. Her professional focus lies in project management and clinical operations, with a strong commitment to prioritizing the research participants and their families as we work towards a deeper understanding of neurodegenerative diseases.
