At BU Computer Science we strive to help our students find valuable work experiences. Each year, we hold a career fair to give our students and employers a chance to connect, and learn about jobs and internships to help kickstart their careers. We share opportunities across campus to meeting with companies and organize interests.
We strongly encourage all students to create and maintain a profile on Handshake and scan through the weekly CS Byte to keep an eye out on upcoming career fairs and info sessions and learn about new opportunities and job postings.
Advanced registrations will be required through Handshake. Registrations are open until 11:55pm on February 3rd OR when the registration limit has been reached. Click here to register. We also invite students to seek advice on resumes, applications and interview prep by reaching out to the BU Center Career Development. Want to connect with CS Staff to prepare for the fair and ask questions? Email CS Manager of Communications and Outreach Natasha Patel at nashapat@bu.edu. Interested employers are welcome to register to attend through January 31, or until all tables are filled. Click here to find the registration information for employers. Undergraduate Students Yawkey Unpaid Internship Program: The Yawkey Foundation’s gift to Boston University is the first permanent fund supporting student internships and focuses on unpaid internships at nonprofit organizations. In addition to providing a living allowance stipend, the Yawkey Program is designed to enhance recipients’ learning experiences through program components such as developing a learning agreement and, upon the internship’s conclusion, writing a reflective essay. CAS Internship Program: The CAS Internship Program offers undergraduates in the College the opportunity to take CAS IN 299 alongside an approved internship. CAS IN 299 is a two-credit, seminar-style course that carries the Teamwork/Collaboration BU Hub unit. Taught by Connector staff, the course complements the experiential learning you’ll be doing in your internships, by encouraging critical self-reflection and the development of career readiness competencies. CAS Summer Internship Support Program: Selected CAS undergraduate students will be provided with an air-conditioned room in a Boston University residence hall during the 12-week Summer Term. Housing expenses and a 10-meal-per-week dining plan will be covered by the program.* Program participants will be expected to attend regular in-person meetings with their internship cohort; complete a series of short assignments, including a pre- and post-internship reflection; and produce a team-based project about the intern experience that will be shared with the CAS community. Newbery Center Summer Fund: The Newbury Center Summer Fund is a selective program designed for first-generation undergraduate students. It provides a living allowance stipend to support participation in experiential learning opportunities during the summer. It is funded through a generous donation to the Newbury Center. In addition to providing a living allowance stipend, the program provides an educational framework which strengthens the experience through a series of program components that help students to plan for, engage in, and reflect upon their summer experiences. CAS Experiential Learning (EL) Connector: The CAS Experiential Learning (EL) Connector is a resource to find and access the possibilities available to you at BU. Arts & Sciences students have access to countless types of experiential learning —from day-long service-learning projects to semesters abroad to full-year research programs or internships. Explore courses and other opportunities thru their website, or book a 1:1 consultation to explore how to engage in experiential learning. Undergraduate and Graduate Students Enlight Social Impact Incubator & Summer Internships: BU students from all degree programs and academic levels are invited to apply for a $10,000 stipend to accept an unpaid summer internship at a Boston nonprofit or social benefit organization where you’ll work for three days per week, then build your own social venture or movement with Innovate@BU two days per week. BU Spark! Job Opportunities: BU Spark! offers a limited number of paid opportunities each semester so you can work while you earn your degree. Opportunities are offered on a semester-long basis and may be extended for the full academic year. Positions are posted as needed, and applications for open positions are reviewed on a rolling basis.On-Campus Jobs, Research and Internship Opportunities
