
Leslie Brown

Leslie K. Brown is an independent curator and educator who specializes in the history of photography and modern and contemporary art.
Brown earned a PhD in the History of Art & Architecture at Boston University and holds an MA from the University of Texas at Austin. During her tenure as Curator at the Photographic Resource Center, she curated and oversaw over 40 exhibitions. Brown has also worked as a museum educator at the Cheekwood Museum of Art and Austin Museum of Art. She continues to author essays for catalogs and books and has guest curated exhibitions a variety of regional galleries and museums.
An award-winning educator, Brown has taught at Boston University (in CAS, MET, and now CFA), Emerson College, Lesley University, Rhode Island School of Design, Simmons University, Wellesley College, and University of Massachusetts Boston. An active speaker, panelist, and moderator, she has also served as an invited departmental and portfolio reviewer as well as exhibition juror. Brown is a native of Rochester, NY and the product of a Kodak family.
