Visiting Artist: Gabriel Kuri
Wednesday, September 20, 5:30 pm
Room 303, 3rd Floor, 808 Commonwealth Ave.
In Gabriel Kuri’s work, familiar things are caught in a semantic play. Kuri’s practice engages the language of found objects and materials (natural or industrial) to create a multilingual conversation. He accepts the socioeconomic conditions of his materials while taking a democratic approach, focusing on the form and the formal rather than cultural definitions and categorizations. His recent shows include exhibitions at Aspen Art Museum; Bergen Kunsthall; the ICA, Boston; Whitechapel Gallery, London; the 12th Havana Biennial; Center Pompidou, Paris; MUAC, Mexico City; and Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. Hosted by the graduate Sculpture program at Boston University.
Free and open to the public. Hosted by the Graduate Sculpture program at Boston University.
