James McCartney has worked in all aspects of live theatrical and corporate audio, primarily as a sound designer and production head. While in New York, his Broadway credits include: A Chorus Line, Dream Girls, Beatlemania and Sarava. His touring credits include: A Chorus Line, The King and I, Ain’t Misbehavin’, I’m Not Rapport, Master Class, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Magic of David Copperfield. Regional and Summer Stock credits include: Huntington Theatre Company, North Shore Music Theatre, The Cape Playhouse, Opera North and Ogunquit Playhouse. Boston area credits include: Boston Lyric Opera, The Boston Pops at Symphony Hall, Boston Early Music Festival, Broadway in Boston, Express Yourself Inc., and Opera New England.

In addition to being audio supervisor for the Greater Boston Labor Council’s, Labor Day breakfast for President Barack Obama, he has provided event support for U.S. Senators, Elizabeth Warren, Ed Markey, and John Kerry, as well as Congressman John Lewis, and President Joe Biden. His corporate productions include events for IBM’s Marketing division, Lotus, Apple, Miller Brewing, and Tandy. He is very proud of his role as sound designer for the I.A.T.S.E. 67th Quadrennial Convention. He is a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 11 where he has served as an Executive Board member and is currently a Trustee and the Apprentice Training Coordinator.
