Terriers @ Work: Wayfair

Caitlin DiMartino manages learning, professional development, and talent management efforts for Wayfair, the largest online destination for the home. DiMartino joined Wayfair in 2009, when the company had about 600 employees, and has worked on the Learning & Development side as the company has scaled to over 2500 employees. In 2011, she developed the first iteration of Wayfair's Sales & Service onboarding and spent two months in Utah to launch and train Wayfair's West Coast call center. Upon returning to Boston, DiMartino began to focus on her skills as a facilitator and instructional designer, developing and facilitating a portfolio of training courses that today include Negotiating Basics, Introduction to SQL (Structured Query Language), several Excel workshops, management courses, and more. These courses are a part of Wayfair's internal learning program, learn@work. In 2012, Caitlin oversaw the development and roll-out of Wayfair's employee competencies, which descri! be successful behavior and help both managers and individual contributors understand where they are successful and how they can improve. Today, Caitlin manages a four-person L&D team that drives global training and development, with responsibilities that include:
-Wayfair's learn@work offering, which spans over 50 ongoing workshops for employees
-The Emerging Manager Track, training ~100 high-potential staff per year for the responsibilities of management
-Ongoing manager training
-Twice annual performance reviews processes for all employees
-On-boarding and Orientation for all new Wayfair staff
-Global L&D presence (in Wayfair's Berlin, London, and Galway offices)
-Engagement efforts that include networking events, mentor programs, the corporate internal blog, and more

Caitlin graduated with a BA in English from BU in 2009, and she currently lives with her husband (also a BU grad) in Quincy, MA.
