What kind of research have you done?

I’ve done research to assess hamster oocyte fertilization outcomes following ICSI procedures to help develop a microfluidic platform for detecting fertile sperm cells from samples previously classified with azoospermia at Harvard Medical School, receiving BU’s Yawkey Nonprofit Internship Scholarship for my work there. I’ve also researched virally induced alternative splicing focused on how the transcription factor EBNA1 suppresses MBP exon II inclusion in chronic active multiple sclerosis lesions at a biology lab at BU.

I applied through LinkedIn & cold emailed the lab PI

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?

I’m a national biomedical onboarding lead at the American Red Cross, an SAT tutor, a program operations coordinator for Empower Through Play, a hospital volunteer, and a big sister for the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts.

What is your favorite BU memory?

Building a snowman with my friends when BU closed for a day after a snow storm

Using Google Tasks to list out my assignments has been helpful for staying organized

To become a physician-scientist (MD-PhD)
