  • You must present in-person. All committee members are required to attend the final oral examination. Up to one committee member, who is not the chair of the committee or the first reader, can attend via audio/video communication without a proxy during the final oral examination. A proxy must be in attendance for any additional committee members who attend via audio/visual communication. Special GRS approval is needed for alternate arrangements.
  • We recommend that you create your own Zoom meeting to avoid any issues accessing the meeting the day of your defense. We also recommend that you appoint a Zoom monitor who will be present in the room during your defense. This person should be made a co-host so they can appropriately monitor the Zoom and address any issues during your talk. If you are comfortable, make this person the host after the meeting has begun (this will avoid any accidental pop up notifications, etc. on the presentation screen).
