Where are you from?
Portland, Maine
What is your favorite Biology or BMB course?
So far, my favorite course has been organic chemistry ll (CH214)! The material was challenging but learning about mechanisms felt like solving a fun puzzle. The labs were my favorite part where we independently got to synthesize a variety of products and verify their identities. I enjoyed completing my Capstone where we designed an experiment based off published research and tried to obtain/characterize our own product.
What kind of research have you done?
I interned at Maine Molecular Quality Controls (MMQCI) for two summers where I was tasked with designing preliminary experiments to help develop a (molecular) product. I conducted PCR, gel electrophoresis, enzymatic digestion, DNA extractions, fragmentation via sonication, and other methods to obtain data. I determined the adequate conditions for the plasmid and methods necessary for the project to move forward into the troubleshooting stage.
What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I’m also a mental health peer resource in Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional coed fraternity on campus! In my free time I sketch and paint.
What is your favorite dining spot on or around campus?
My holy grail for cheap food near campus is Hen/FIYA. They have a lot of Thai and chicken dishes but my favorite dish they have is daikon soup.
What is your favorite BU memory?
My favorite memory was laughing so hard with my friend in West dining hall that I lost my voice for 2 weeks after.
What’s one BU tip you wish you knew sooner?
Join at least one club/organization because it’ll help you feel more connected to the BU community and encourage you to do more for yourself and others.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I am applying to pharmacy school to become a pharmacist! I hope to work as a clinical or industrial pharmacist as I enjoy working with people to achieve something great.
