What have you been doing since you’ve graduated? |
I worked abroad as an ESL teacher for a year and then received my MS in Human Paleobiology from George Washington University. I am currently a PhD student in the department of Anthropology at Yale University. |
How did your experience in the program shape your professional and personal life? |
Though my research is now focused on genetics and genomics, my archaeology background has been extremely useful for interdisciplinary collaborations and helps me to always keep in mind cultural and historical backgrounds of the populations I’m researching. |
What interactions with members of the Archaeology faculty did you value most during your time in the program? |
Working as an office assistant in the department allowed me to get to know the faculty and graduate students on a more personal level. I valued these interactions as it helped me feel comfortable and at home in the department. |
If you could give a piece of advice to your past self, what would it be? |
To be more proactive in searching for opportunities for lab work or chances to grow my skills, like coding classes. |
