Hands-on experience with lab work, fieldwork, and museum internships is a critical aspect of the archaeology program for undergraduates and graduate students. Each year, the Archaeology Program provides financial support to archaeology students on a competitive basis to assist students so that they can take advantage of these important opportunities. These funds are intended to enhance undergraduate and graduate training in archaeology and may be used for a variety of research- and travel-related expenses, including conference travel, research activities, field schools, museum internships, or other relevant research opportunities. Archaeology majors, minors, and graduate students in good academic standing in the BA, BA/MA, or MA program in Archaeology, and other BU students who would like to explore opportunities in archaeology and cultural heritage management are welcome to apply.
Funding requests will be reviewed twice each year and should be submitted by November 15 (for fall, winter, and early spring projects) or by April 1st (for late spring and summer projects). If you have questions, please contact Robert Murowchick (DUS) remurow@bu.edu, Andrea Berlin (DGS) aberlin@bu.edu, or Maria Sousa (Archaeology Program Administrator) mhsousa@bu.edu
