| What have you been doing since you’ve graduated? |
I pursued a path in social work (adults with developmental disabilities & homeless folks) before regrouping in my homestate of New Hampshire and getting a second wind in archaeology. In addition to CRM work for Independent Archaeological Consulting from 2019-2022, several of my hobbies and extracurricular activities overlap with my archaeology, history, and archaeology-adjacent interests, such as heavy involvement in the Indigenous New Hampshire Collaborative Collective (INHCC), my town’s historical society, the Seacoast Science Center (Rye, NH), and the Locke Family Association. I recently (May 2022) left Independent Archaeological Consulting for a fieldwork position with Montrose Environmental Group, specifically their air quality division. It was bittersweet to leave professional archaeology (for now). Even though archaeology is not my source of income, it is and will continue to be a significant component of my personal life (aka for fun). |
| How did your experience in the program shape your professional and personal life? |
Archaeology is my passion and I am motivated to continue making a tangible impact on deepening our understanding of Indigenous archaeology in Northern New England. |
| What interactions with members of the Archaeology faculty did you value most during your time in the program? |
The late & great Professor Beaudry was an incredible academic advisor who helped me figure out that I was passionate about the archaeology of the Americas far more than Old World archaeology. Rick Elia & Amalia Perez provided an excellent foundation for conducting fieldwork. These 3 professors saw my potential and believed in me. |
| If you could give a piece of advice to your past self, what would it be? |
I could give endless advice to my past self, but in regards to pursuing an undergraduate degree, I’d advise myself to not let my personal life distract me as much as it did. I wish I had been more present during my education and didn’t take my future as seriously as I do now. |
