Somerton Sio (CAS’09)
Flight Operations Inspector, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore
Somerton Sio is a 2009 graduate of Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences, where he earned his degree in classical civilization. Since 2012, he has remained an active member of the University’s alumni community, contributing to the continued engagement of the alumni network.
Professionally, Mr. Sio serves as a flight operations inspector at the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. Within the Flight Standards division, he is responsible for the safety oversight and safety policies for Singapore Air Operators, ensuring compliance with both national regulations and international benchmarks. His work involves close collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization to support the safety of Singapore’s aviation ecosystem.
Parallel to his professional career, he serves as the president of the Curling Association Singapore and of the Equatorial Curling Club. Having been a founding member of Boston University Curling Club during his undergraduate years, he has led the sport’s long-term development in the country, recently overseeing two teams’ entry into international competition at the Asian Curling Club Championships.
