Five ways to get ahead in 2019

Conventional wisdom suggests that we should prioritize the upcoming 365 days by creating a list of resolutions to ensure we make the most of the year. For many, this includes self-improvement, giving back, and career success. But figuring out where to start can be tricky. Where do we focus our energy first? Are we aiming high enough? What happens if we don’t complete them?

While we can’t complete your resolutions for you, we can certainly give your list a jump-start. If you’re looking for ways to get ahead in 2019, look no further than your friendly neighborhood Alumni Association.

Career advancement? ✅

If advancing your career is on your list of resolutions in 2019, then this is the challenge for you. This four-part series is dedicated to helping you define and achieve your professional goals. The Career Kick-start Challenge begins on January 14, 2019, and will deliver a step-by-step guide to prepare yourself, build your network, find a career, and pay it forward.

Participants also gain early access to Alumni Career Weeks events during the month of March and will be entered to win two all-access passes to Alumni Weekend 2019.

Give back? ✅

Make an impact at BU by supporting an initiative you care about at the University. With each and every gift, alumni and friends of BU make the University’s mission a reality: Students are taught and inspired, innovation is sought and achieved, and communities around the world are served and connected—all thanks to the support of generous donations.

Did you know: Boston University trustee Richard D. Cohen (CGS’67, Questrom’69) is matching, dollar for dollar, all new or increased gifts made for need-based undergraduate financial aid, up to a total of $1 million. Make a gift today and double your impact!

Community service? ✅

Throughout the month of April, Alumni and friends around the world come together and give their time and energy to support hundreds of nonprofits. Global Days of Service provides an opportunity for the BU community to join forces and make an impact in local communities by driving change locally and globally.

Be social? ✅

Are you #ProudtoBU? Tell the world a little about yourself by signing up for an Instagram takeover as part of our #TerrierTuesdays series. Participants will get the chance to take over our Instagram stories and be featured on our feed.

See? That wasn’t so hard, was it? Here’s to a great 2019, Terriers!
