BU Hub
BU’s general education program is called the BU Hub. All undergraduates must meet their Hub requirements to graduate. Your academic advisors in your school/college can advise you on the specifics of meeting your BU Hub requirements. However, here are some general tips to think about in your first year:
- The BU Hub is designed as a four-year program, so you shouldn’t try to finish it all in your first year!
- It’s usually best to get started on your writing requirements as soon as possible, as your writing courses will help you do well in other courses.
- If you’re interested in exploring another major or a minor, taking a course in that department that meets Hub requirements can help you make progress toward your degree while you explore.
- Be sure to check out Hub Cocurriculars as a way to meet Hub requirements. HUB CC 127 is designed especially for first-year students, to help you feel comfortable and be successful at BU.
- Interested in social and racial justice? HUB SJ 101 is designed for first-years and sophomores, and it fulfills three Hub requirements.
- Don’t forget to look at which Hub requirements you’ll meet automatically by meeting your major requirements.
- Want to take a class with a friend from a different major or another school/college? Take a Hub course together!
- With over 1,800 Hub courses, you should be able to find one that interests you, or seems useful for the future, in every area. Take the time to explore the possibilities, rather than just signing up for something to check it off your list.
