Units Not Counted Toward the Degree

Questrom School of Business Policy

Some Boston University courses that appear on students’ transcripts do not count toward the 132 units of academic coursework that are required for completion of the BSBA in the Questrom School of Business, as detailed below.

Physical education and military science courses—regardless of the school, college, or program in which they are offered—are not applicable for degree units. Such courses may, however, be carried in excess of the normal four courses per term. Grades for military science courses are not included in a student’s Questrom grade point average but do appear on a student’s transcript. Physical education courses are graded on a Pass/Fail basis, with those grades also appearing on the student’s transcript if taken prior to fall 2024.

Courses offered by the CAS Student Programs & Leadership office (e.g., CAS FY 101, 102, 103, SY 101) are graded on a Pass/Fail basis, and that grade appears on a student’s transcript. However, these courses are not applicable for degree units.

The courses QST SM 395, SM 398, and SM 399 are graded on a Pass/Fail basis. Those grades appear on a student’s transcript but are not applicable for degree units.
