Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences Policy

Students who are interested in transferring to CDS from another undergraduate school or college at Boston University via Intra-University Transfer (IUT) must meet the following criteria:

• A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or greater on at least 12 units per term for at least one term at BU, and
• A grade of at least a B– or better for any non-CDS courses to be counted toward the foundational, core, and/or elective requirements for the major

Deadlines

Applications for IUT are accepted beginning after the first term of enrollment at BU and generally no later than the end of the first term of junior year.

Students must apply by July 15 for a Fall IUT and by November 15 for a Spring IUT.

Intra-University Transfer Out

Students who are seeking an IUT out of CDS to another school/college within BU should reach out to CDS Academic Advising. As part of the process, students must also talk to an advisor within the school/college they seek to transfer into, who will advise on the courses to take during the student’s transitional term(s).
