Units by Examination
Metropolitan College Policy
Metropolitan College recognizes specific subject examinations offered by two national standardized testing programs: College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and Dantes Subject Standardized Tests (DSST). Both examination programs are approved by the American Council on Education and provide students with the opportunity to obtain college units by examination. Students are allowed to receive up to two years of undergraduate academic units by examination for knowledge obtained outside the classroom.
These standardized exams are offered and recognized nationally by many colleges and universities. A limited number of waiver examinations are offered in computer sciences for undergraduate degree candidates with specific knowledge in a particular area.
All CLEP and DSST examinations require preapproval. Approval is tentative subject to admittance to a degree program. Download the approval form or contact Metropolitan College Enrollment & Student Success at 617-353-2980 for more information and a listing of the examinations acceptable for credit.
