Corporate Business Development
Translational Research and Corporate Relations (TRCR) supports Boston University faculty engaged in translating their discoveries into commercial products. We work with faculty that participate in translational research programs and provide assistance with proposal development, implementation of translational research, and facilitating collaboration with industry. Services provided include intellectual property diligence, market research, product positioning, commercial strategy development, and networking to sources of follow-on funding. TRCR also recruits and coordinates external resources to support translational research programs including graduate student coursework, internships, mentor programs, consultants, industrial funding, and support from external advisory boards.
TRCR currently administers the Ignition Award program and provides commercialization support to participants in the Boston University & Wallace H. Coulter Foundation Translational Research Partnership; the Boston University – Fraunhofer Alliance for Medical Devices, Instrumentation, and Diagnostics; and the Technology Investigation Award program offered by the Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center (MTTC). The focus of all of these funding initiatives is to stimulate and accelerate the development of intellectual property owned by Boston University. There are other translational programs (listed here) affiliated with Boston University that TRCR can support as needed.
