
Michelle Bartolo-Cruz
Program Manager
Michelle Bartolo-Cruz is the program manager for the Upward Bound program at Boston University, where she leads efforts to prepare low-income, first-generation students for success in higher education. In this role, she oversees curriculum development, recruits and trains educators, and provides essential college advising and financial aid support. She is passionate about fostering academic growth and empowering students, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to thrive in college and beyond. Her blend of technical expertise and dedication to community service allows her to inspire and support students as they embark on their educational journeys.
With a strong background in scientific research and a commitment to mentorship, Ms. Bartolo-Cruz brings a unique perspective to her work. With roots from Mexico and raised on the West Coast, she has diverse experiences that span molecular biology, neurodegenerative disease research, and diagnostic assay development. Beyond her research, she has mentored high school students through the Minds Matter NYC/Boston program, guiding them through the college application process. She has also shared her passion for science as an afterschool STEM teacher, inspiring young students to explore and create through hands-on learning.
