Dr. Claire White is the program director of the Child Life & Family-Centered Care Program, the first academic program in the United States and the first to be endorsed by the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP). She has taught a variety of courses, and teaches and supervises both undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. White coordinated and taught the Hospitalized Child in England summer course at Wheelock College from 1999 until 2012. Prior to that, she had more than 20 years of professional experience working in child life and early intervention, and was the recipient of Wheelock’s Cynthia Longfellow Award for teaching in 2003. She holds leadership positions within the professional organization the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP). Her most recent publications and presentations are about the history of the child life profession and humor and child development.
