
Ben Freeburn
Research Scientist
Dr. Ben Freeburn is a research scientist on the Simulations for Learning and Assessing in Teacher Education (SimulaTE) project team at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. His research centers on mathematics teaching practices and how teachers learn to teach mathematics.
Dr. Freeburn collaborates with researchers to design and study the use of teaching simulations with preservice teachers to build their knowledge and skills to elicit and interpret students’ mathematical thinking. He has also studied classroom instructional practices that focus on student mathematical thinking, prospective teacher learning in practice-based mathematics methods courses, and the design of practice-based coursework activities.
