BU Wheelock Celebrates at Alumni Weekend 2025
From recognizing this year’s Alumni Awards to a BU Wheelock tea, alums came together to reconnect and reminisce
BU Wheelock alumni and guests came together for several special events held during the 2025 Boston University Alumni Weekend.
Each year, Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development recognizes members of our alumni community for their outstanding contributions, exemplary service, and dedicated leadership. The 2025 Alumni Awards recognized five alumni whose commitment and advocacy have had far-reaching impact in Boston, the nation, and beyond. Awards were presented to Mary Bourque, Ashley Sharpe-Porter, Raul Fernandez, Deborah Buehler, and Christine Benero.
Alums also came together during a BU Wheelock tea with the Lucy’s Legacy Foundation, during which the foundation recognized scholarship recipients Lily Lily Pavlowich (Wheelock’26) and Alexandra Normandeau (Wheelock’26). Attendees also had the opportunity to view a collection of historical artifacts from historic Wheelock College and BU’s School of Education. And at another event, “Curiosity 101: Uncertainty and Sensemaking in Science Education,” BU Wheelock faculty members TJ McKenna and Eve Manz explored ways to transform classrooms into places of scientific learning.
