Doctoral Student

Gabriela Martinez Berio is a doctoral student in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Originally from Puerto Rico, Gabriela has built her career around helping students navigate the transition from college to the world beyond it.

Gabriela currently serves as Associate Director of Career Services in the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, where she works with students as they explore their professional interests, develop career goals, and prepare for the lives they envision after graduation. Her work in higher education has given her firsthand insight into the changing relationship between students, institutions, employers, and the broader economy.

Her research interests center on the evolving role and value of higher education within a changing economic landscape. In particular, Gabriela is interested in how shifts in the economy, workforce, and labor market influence how individuals and society perceive the value of a college degree. She is also interested in how colleges and universities can adapt to these changes while continuing to prepare students for meaningful and sustainable careers.
