How do I login to Blackboard Ultra?

What is the “Institution Page” for?

This dashboard contains important information and several links that you may find useful, including the Student Link, BU Libraries and TechWeb links. 

How can I change my personal information?

Click your name in the navigation menu on the left side of the page. Find the field you would like to edit and click on the pencil icon to the right of that field.

What is the “Activity Stream”?

It shows you your upcoming assignments and events as well as updates for when an instructor adds something new to the course.

I want to change my notification settings for the Activity Stream. How can I do so?

Click “Activity Stream” on the left side of the page. Click the gear icon at the top-right of your screen and adjust the notification settings.

How can I change the view of my “Courses” page so I can only see courses I am currently taking?

Click the star button on the right side of the course you’re taking to add it to your ‘Favorites’ which will always appear at the top of the list.  To avoid seeing courses already completed, click “Courses” on the left of the page. Then, click the arrow next to “Current Courses” at the top of the screen and choose a semester from the drop-down menu options. This view can then be further specified with the “Filter” drop-down menu just below.  

What is the “Organizations” page for?

Organizations can be created for non-academic use in Blackboard.  You can view any Organizations you are enrolled in from this page.

Why are some events in my calendar different colors?

Each course that you are taking is automatically designated with a unique color, which is highlighted in the “Activity Steam” and “Calendar” pages to help stay organized.

How can I respond to a message?

Click “Messages” at the left of your page. Choose the course that the message is associated with. Click on the message you want to respond to. Then, type out your message at the bottom of the screen and click “Send”.

How can I view my detailed grades?

Click “Grades” on the left side of the page. Then, click on the grade bubble that displays your overall grade. If your instructor has provided detailed grades, you will now be able to view them.
