Boston University’s voicemail can call a phone or pager to notify you about new messages. It can also send message notifications as text and SMS messages to email addresses, text pagers, text-compatible mobile phones, and similar devices.

Notifications can be activated from either the Message Assistant in your Voicemail Web Inbox or from your Cisco VoIP handset

Setting Up Device Notifications from the Voicemail Web Inbox

The Boston University voicemail notification device needs to be enabled to send notification calls.

You can set notification types, choose which callers trigger a device, define notification schedules, and manage contact options only through the Messaging Assistant web tool.

To access the Messaging Assistant web tool:

  1. Log into your Voicemail Web Inbox (VPN required off campus).

  2. In the interface, click the Settings tab. This will take you to Messaging Assistant, where you can manage voicemail notifications.

Note: These changes cannot be made by phone.
