The BU Counselor Portal enables undergraduate admissions (ENSA) to give high school counselors secure, self-service visibility into the application status of students from their school. Counselors log in without a password using a one-time verification code sent to their email, verify their school via a CEEB code, and then see a personalized dashboard of applicants linked to their institution. The portal eliminates the need for counselors to call or email Admissions staff to check on individual students, reduces staff workload, and ensures that only authorized counselors see only the students they are permitted to view.
Benefits
For High School Counselors
- Instant, self-service access to applicant status without waiting for Admissions staff responses.
- Secure login that does not require counselors to manage a separate username and password.
- Clear, plain-language decision values and help text reduce confusion about admissions outcomes.
- Ability to upload documents on behalf of students streamlines post-decision enrollment support.
For BU Admissions Staff
- Reduced volume of inbound status inquiries from counselors, freeing staff time for higher-value work.
- Visibility into counselor engagement (login history, activity reporting) supports outreach and adoption tracking.
- Annual cycle reset process ensures data hygiene and a clean start each admissions year.
Key Features
- The portal provides secure access and easy navigation to review applicants from their respective institutions.
- The counselors go through a CEEB-based verification process to confirm their institutional affiliation. BU’s undergraduate admission’s team can manually override and control the visibility for any edge cases such as multi-institutional affiliation.
- Admissions staff is able view counselor login activity, monitor engagement and use integrated communications through MarketingCloud.
