Abena Kwakyi, Assistant Director

Abena has found her way back home to Boston and campus. She’s very excited to combine her passion for education, mentoring and continuous improvement in her role as an Assistant Director working with student organizations and departments on campus. She looks forward to supporting students through training & leadership programs, and making the processes and overall experience better for all involved to successfully plan and put on events & programming.

She grew up in Georgia,U.S.A and Ghana,West Africa before attending Boston University for her Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering (ENG’11). At BU, she was involved in various student organizations, her college and other departments and divisions. She then worked up the street at MATCH Charter Public High School for two years before moving to NJ to get her M.Eng in Integrated Product Development from Stevens Institute of Technology. She remained involved in education through volunteer opportunities and worked as a Grad Assistant in the Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education at Stevens. Before joining the SAO team, she worked in the Aviation Department of the Port Authority of NY & NJ.

Abena loves reading, anything and everything music (from listening and singing along to dancing), serving others, traveling and staying connected with family and friends all around the world.
