Your paycheck will be direct deposited to your account on Fridays. Don’t have direct deposit? A physical check will be mailed from the University’s banking partner to your address listed in the BUWorks Employee Self-Service system.
Physical checks are not available for pickup at 881 Commonwealth Avenue.
Updating Your Address
After your payroll file has been generated, you will receive an email from BUWorks notifying you that you have been hired into the payroll system. You can view and maintain your address via Learn more by watching the video below.
Viewing Your Salary Statements
You can quickly view a record of your paychecks online. Use your Kerberos log in to access the Employee Self Service tile on the MyBU Portal, and then select the View Salary Statement option. Please note that physical paychecks become invalid after 120 days. Boston University will not reimburse employees for any bank penalties incurred when attempting to cash a stale dated check.
Paycheck Problems
If you have any issues with your payment, start by contacting your supervisor. They are responsible for submitting your hiring documents and timesheets and can review this information to help identify any issues.
If you are unable to access the Employee Self-Service and have received email confirmation of a payment, submit a service ticket for assistance. If the issue persists, follow up with your supervisor for further support.
Reissuing Paychecks
Physical paychecks that have been lost or stolen or that have not been cashed within 120 days of issue may be stopped/reissued. Reissued checks will be mailed to you at the address currently on file
“Stop payment” is processed for lost or stolen checks.
“Check reissue” is processed if you still have the original physical check.
To request a reissued check, first check and change the mailing address on file by going to BUWorks > Employee Self Service > Personal Information > Addresses.
All the above check information can be found on BUWorks Central Portal > Employee Self-Service > Pay > Salary Statement for each individual check that needs to be reissued. Please check the example for helping finding the check information needed to fill out the form.
If you need multiple checks reissued, there is space on the form for up to four separate check numbers. Make sure the check dates are in chronological order, and they match up to the check numbers listed. You will need to submit the form as many times as needed in batches of four checks at a time.
