What school are you attending and what you are studying? Why did you choose to apply to this school? What do you think makes your school unique?

I am currently a plastic surgery resident at Brown University. I graduated from BU in 2017 and Brown Med in 2021. Brown Med was wonderful, it fostered a sense of community. The administration was very supportive and medical-student focused.

Is there a specialization and/or specific population you are interested in? Why? How did you get into it and/or learn more about it?

Not really, as a plastic surgery resident I take care and operate on patients of all ages and backgrounds. I learned about it during my kidney disease research internship at Harvard/BWH!

What are one or two of your favorite experiences/activities and why?

Traveling, there’s so much to see and experience!

Did you take a gap year?

I did not.

What was your favorite BU course and why?

Archaeology 101/102. This course felt like I was traveling in time and around the world. Really enjoyed it. My classmates during the discussion section were great, and I became good friends with some! They were all taking the course as an elective and had different majors.

Were you involved in any clubs/groups at BU?

BU Lebanese club, which organized events on campus with great food.

BU orientation; allowed me to meet and mentor a whole incoming freshman and transfer student class.

Have you always known you wanted to be a doctor?

My interest in medicine was progressive, but it started early in high school.

What resources at BU did you find most helpful or want to spotlight that others might not know about?

Seniors or first-year medical students at BUSM, they had great advice throughout the pre-med journey.

What are your hobbies/What do you like to do for fun outside of the classroom?

Biking, skiing, playing soccer, trying new food, catching up with friends, traveling.

Are there any tips/advice you would like to share with current pre-health students?

Go out to that party on Saturday night. You can study for your exam on Sunday.
