Biography

A native Bostonian, she spent the past 15 years at the Legal Aid Society of New York City, in the Juvenile Rights Practice as a Senior Trial Attorney. Kim practiced family law, juvenile justice work and special education law in the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn. She represented children, ages newborn to 21 years old in all phases of cases, as well as emergency stays and appeals. Kim is a certified national Child Welfare Law Specialist (CWLS) by the National Association of Counsel for Children. While at the Legal Aid Society, Kim did extensive national recruiting and interviewing for The Legal Aid Society as well as mentoring law students and young lawyers. 
 
Kim has interned at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., the Executive Office of Immigration Review in Detroit, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, and Greater Boston Legal Services’ Asian Outreach Unit. She has also worked with victims of human trafficking in Michigan, helping them with various legal matters such as VAWA, SIJS, T-Visas and U-Visas. Since joining BU Law in 2023, she has been on the Pro Bono Honor Roll from the American Association of American Law Schools (AALS), won the Dean’s Staff Service Award, and elected to the Nominating Committee of the National Association of Law Placement (NALP). She is licensed to practice in New York and Massachusetts.
