Energy Law: Transactions and Transitions
LAWJD832
Energy law and policy are integral to the U.S. and broader global economy and have major impacts on the environment. This seminar will provide an overview of U.S. energy law and policy and how that law and policy is changing to facilitate decarbonization goals and growing energy needs. The seminar will also explore transactions in the conventional and renewable energy industries, including mergers and acquisitions, financings and private equity investments, and how the relevant legal frameworks and regulatory dynamics impact those transactions. Students will examine sample transaction documents and explore how they are negotiated with a longtime energy M&A practitioner. There are no pre-requisites. UPPER-CLASS WRITING REQUIREMENT: A limited number of students may use this seminar to partially satisfy the Upper-Class Writing Requirement with the approval of the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.
