Lee Zimmerman Public Interest Fund
Lee Zimmerman (’90), was a wonderful colleague, patient mentor, exceptional lawyer, and friend. In addition to his extraordinary career, Lee volunteered his time and talents to public service. He was the board president for Philadelphia VIP, a supporter of BU Law’s Public Interest Program Fund, and he was committed to building connections between his company and Boston University. Boston University School of Law is honored to inspire students to explore public service, and to do so in Lee Zimmerman’s name.
Boston University School of Law is humbled to help carry forward Lee’s legacy of public service and pro bono work. The Lee Zimmerman Public Interest Fund will support students who both desire a career in public interest or government, and those who believe they will be better lawyers if they serve the public at an organization that aligns with their interests. Public service internships offer critical learning opportunities for all law students.
This Fund will provide grants to first- and second-year JD students who accept unpaid summer internships with nonprofit, public interest, or government organizations. The Fund will be invested in Boston University’s endowment, and its impact will increase over time—transforming not only the lives and education of students but also the communities they serve through their work. We welcome colleagues, clients, fellow alumni, and friends of Lee’s to further the fund’s impact by contributing to this initiative.
