New Student Orientation

ISSO works with campus partners to support your transition to BU and the U.S. Two essential online pre-arrival courses are offered prior to on-campus orientation:

  • BU First Class: Familiarizes you with the BU classroom, the university’s expectations around academic integrity as well as provide helpful tips for a smooth transition to campus
  • BU First Class ISSO Immigration Overview for Students: Required for undergraduates and graduate students, this course covers ISSO services, maintaining your immigration status, U.S. employment, and visa travel documents.

All incoming international students will receive information over the summer for programs that begin in the fall and early January for programs that begin in the spring, with instructions on how to access the courses. We recommend completing these courses before arrival and revisiting them during your first year.

Undergraduate Students
