When is the application deadline?
The Graduate Dissertation Fellowship application deadline is March 1.
Who can apply?
Students applying to the dissertation fellowship must be nominated by their departments. It is expected that all Graduate Dissertation Fellows (GDFs) will defend their dissertations by the end of August of the year in which they hold the fellowship. The Graduate Dissertation Fellowship is intended to be the final stage of each fellow’s graduate work at BU, and fellows should not continue their graduate student affiliation with their departments in the year after their award.
What if the deadline falls on a Saturday or Sunday?
By setting all our deadlines on the first or fifteenth of the month, we will sometimes have a deadline that falls on a Saturday or Sunday. In that case, we expect that all applications will be submitted before 9 a.m. the following Monday morning. Please do not ask us to consider late applications. Please urge those writing your letters of recommendation them to upload the needed letters by the application deadline.
How do I use your online applications?
The BUCH application process is now via an online platform, InfoReady Review. Applications can be started and saved on the portal. You will need to use your BUID login name and Kerberos password to log in.
How should my referees submit their letters of recommendation?
Confidential letters (for all student awards and all fellowships) must be submitted directly to the InfoReady Review portal by the recommender. Please follow the instructions in the Reference Letter section of the application to request letters of recommendation well in advance of the application deadline.
Do you offer post-doctoral Fellowships?
No. The Boston University Center for the Humanities Fellowships are restricted to tenured and tenure-track faculty, and graduate students of Boston University.
