Faculty Fellowship FAQ

When are the applications due?

Both Jeffrey Henderson Senior Research Fellowship applications and Junior Faculty Fellowship applications are due October 15.

How do I use your online applications?

The BUCH application process is now via an online platform, InfoReady Review. You may save your draft application at any time. You will need to use your BUID login name and Kerberos password to log in.

How should my referees submit their letters of recommendation?

Confidential letters must be submitted directly to the InfoReady Review portal by the recommender. Please follow the instructions in the Reference Letter section of the application to request letters of recommendation well in advance of the application deadline.

I am a senior faculty member. What are the eligibility requirements for applying for the Henderson Senior Research Fellowship?

Faculty already at the rank of associate or full professor may apply for fellowship support provided that they are eligible according to current CAS faculty leave policy, which stipulates that a faculty member may take no more than two consecutive semesters of leave and no more than four semesters of leave in any six-year period. Anyone who has held a Henderson Senior Faculty Fellowship may not apply again until five years after the completion of the fellowship. With respect to the current cycle, faculty members who held an HSRF in 2019/2020 or earlier are eligible to apply in fall 2025 for the academic year 2026/2027. Faculty who are awaiting a tenure decision are not eligible to apply.

Strong applicants are not only exemplary scholars but exemplary colleagues, as award recipients are expected to participate actively in the life of the Center through our Fellows Seminar. To this end, strong applicants will have served as full-time faculty members at BU for several years and will have made significant contributions to their departments both as scholars and colleagues.

Applications should demonstrate productive use of previous leaves. Please mention all supported leaves on your CV.

Projects under consideration should be well beyond the preliminary stages.

I am a junior faculty member and held a Junior Faculty Fellowship in the past. May I apply for a second Junior Faculty Fellowship?

No. Since 2008, the policy of the Center is that a junior faculty member may only be awarded a Junior Faculty Fellowship once.
