The Fellows Seminar

The Fellows Seminar has been the core of the intellectual community at the Center since 1984. The Seminar meets throughout each semester to discuss work in progress by each of its members. A gathering for multidisciplinary research, debate, and dialogue among Henderson Senior Research Fellows (HSRFs), Junior Faculty Fellows (JFFs), and Graduate Dissertation Fellows (GDFs), the Seminar assists scholars in the development of their work and engages the larger questions of culture and imagination that the humanities have always examined.

Jeffrey Henderson Senior Research Fellowships (HSRF)

Since 2004, the Center, in collaboration with the College of Arts & Sciences, has offered research fellowships to tenured faculty from Boston University. Senior research fellows receive one semester’s leave of absence at full salary, with the Center providing their departments with course replacement funds for two courses per faculty member. In 2007, these fellowships were named in honor of former CAS Dean Jeffrey Henderson who helped to make them possible.

Details about applying for an HSRF and the link to the portal are found on the Henderson Senior Faculty Fellowship page.

The annual HSRF application deadline is October 15.

Junior Faculty Fellowships (JFF)

Since its founding, the Center has offered fellowships for junior faculty. The Junior Faculty Fellowships provide for one semester’s leave of absence at full salary at a crucial time in the careers of junior faculty, which enables them to complete the work they need to qualify for tenure. The Center provides their departments with course replacement funds for two courses per faculty member.

The annual JFF application deadline is October 15.
